Larger Apple Silicon iMac Still In The Works Leave a comment

Earlier this year, Apple introduced the M1 iMac. However, this iMac refresh came in one size only, a 24-inch model. As you might know, prior to this, Apple had both a 21-inch and 27-inch model, which means that there is a good chance that there could be a larger Apple Silicon iMac in development as well.

So the question is, where is it? According to Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, it seems that the larger Apple Silicon iMac is still in the works. Based on what he’s saying, it seems that it might not necessarily arrive later this year, and that it might be powered by either the M1X or the M2X chipset.

If it is the latter, that means we can only expect it late 2022. This is because Apple is rumored to launch the M1X later this year in the redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, and that the M2 is only arriving in 2022, which means that the M2X will probably come in the later part of 2022 based on the current schedule.

This is just speculation on our part, but it sounds like if you wanted a larger iMac, you’d either have to buy the Intel model right now, or you might have to practice a bit of patience and possibly wait until 2022. Not much else is known about this larger iMac but we expect that more details should surface in the coming weeks and months.
